The History of Murmas
Part 4: Today
t turns out that it wasn't so much the age of the sacrifice as it was the height. Once the Murmons figured that out, their numbers really took off, and they managed to lure many a tiny person to their doom.
s is widely accepted by scholars everywhere, December 30th is nowadays recognized as the birthday of Mure. In a nod to another famous Capricorn of religious significance, the festival of Murmas is celebrated over a period of six days, beginning on December 25th (the "First Day of Murmas") and culminating with a feast on December 30th (the "Sixth Day of Murmas", or more commonly, "Murmas Day"). Each day, a sacrifice is made, although in later years (beginning around 1977) it became acceptable to simply offer presents on each day instead. Some people offer neither sacrifices nor presents, choosing instead to recognize the birth of Mure simply through a heartfelt congratulatory greeting or a sentinmental card. These people, of course, are cast into a lake of fire upon their deaths, where they spend all of eternity writhing in endless, searing agony. |
